Formerly “Drawing for the Terrified”, this course has evolved into more than a drawing class; it is a weekly session that explores the materials, methods and principles of art and design.
You will learn to use drawing as a way of thinking and communicating plus: basic colour theory, sculptural methods, botanical drawing and the proportion of the human figure. Each term there is an art history lecture, relevant to an aspect of your learning. In the past we have looked at artists including Henry Moore, Hilma af Klint, Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Frida Khalo and Hasegawa Tōhaku.
The class is suitable for beginners and improvers. You will build your skills and confidence in this mini art school for the creatively frustrated. Challenging but fun activities and optional sketchbook homework.
