Ever wondered why we speak the way we do, or whether language shapes how we think? How do children learn language? What exactly makes English… English? This course explores these questions to uncover what makes the English language so fascinating, diverse and ever-changing.
We will dabble in creative writing and examine how writers use language effectively. We will go back in time to understand the origins of English, and look at how it is used today in modern society.
The aim of the course is to learn the nuts and bolts of the English language.
This course is open to everyone, regardless of experience and level of English.
Please note: this is not an ESOL course (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
